I can't believe there are only TWO days left in May! Where did the month go? Or the last six months....can't believe we are half way through the year! A friend of mine put a Christmas countdown on Facebook the other day...WTH?! We have had a dreary and unusually cold Spring so maybe that is why it doesn't seem like it should be June yet.
So.....what has been going on the past two weeks?
MIL has had her surgery to remove the tumor in her colon. The surgery went really well...she went in on the 21st and came home on the 27th. We don't know the status of the cancer or if she will need further treatment yet. She feels fine but then again she didn't have any symptoms before....just found it through routine testing. One of DH's sisters will be here on June 10th and spend a week so that should lift her spirits a bit and be a nice change in conversation for us all ;)
Randi (step-DD) was here with her boyfriend, Jeff, on the 21st. Kip had a good visit with them while the boys were at school and I was at work. I'm really happy that they got to spend some quality time together as we never get that! Although the menu didn't go as planned (I was at work and DH was in charge of starting supper) it was really good.....mmmmmm BBQ steak! I also managed to get some really good photos of DH with the kids so I can update some frames and get copies for the family. After supper, Courtney and I took Randi up to the hospital to see Grannie and then we all went to play Laser Tag. Courtney and I hadn't planned on playing but they already had us signed up and paid for when we stopped to drop Randi off after the hospital. It was actually quite fun and Courtney and her boyfriend, John, took the boys back the next night when they were babysitting.
We had a little accident with one of the friends playing backyard football. His hand went through both panes of the basement window and he suffered a pretty deep gash to the back of his hand. We called his Dad with the option to meet us at the ER or pick him up (he chose to pick him up). Do I need to say how totally freaked out I was! I just got home 5 minutes before and man am I glad I did! Not something I want to experience again with my kids or anyone else's. I kept apologizing to the Dad and was a basket case until we heard how he was doing. The Dad kept telling me it was fine and reminded me he was bitten in the eye by a friends dog....whatever....Dad hadn't seen the cut yet! Turns out he got 10 stitches and severed a tendon. He has a splint to protect it and help it heal but they expect him to make a full recovery.
On to the good stuff! The "scrappy" stuff! I still haven't had a chance to play with the goodies I commented on in my last post and I received more scrappy mail. This time it was my May kits from LPS!!! Yippeeeeee!!! They are awesome! I purchased the Alternate and the Project kits. I am going to dive into these later today and make the double page layout for the May contest. (Note: stupid Blogger won't let me insert the link for the kits so if you want to drool over them too just check out the "Life Preservers" link to the left). There was also an extra surprise in the box! Sharon S gave Von my RAK goodies from a past crop challenge that I had participated in. It's like she has a window into my mind because everything was just perfect! Love it all! Which also reminds me that I have two little piles of goodies to send out to the wonderful ladies that won MY challenge....sorry...there is no excuse for not mailing these out yet. They will be postal this weekend!!!!
So....wow this is a long post. I really should update more often and then it won't take an entire cup of coffee to read! Kudos to you if you made it to the end ;)
Later gator!

Welcome to the long weekend
I am working all weekend but I get Monday and Tuesday off so I guess that is alright...one day with the family....one day to myself ;) We are supposed to be going to a friend's for a BBQ on Sunday night so that will be a good break from our regular routine of staying home and doing nothing...hahaha.
We finally heard from MIL's surgeon and she will have her tumor removed on Wed, May 21st so hopefully all goes well with that. We won't know if she need further treatments or anything else until just before she comes home from the hospital. Everyone is praying and crossing their fingers that all will be well.
On a scrapbooking note, I got a nice box of goodies in the mail today so I can't wait until I have time to play with it all. My very first bottle of Stickles and Glimmer Mist and my first pack of Thickers....I wonder if I will be just as addicted as everyone else? I'm going to say no right now but things may change ;) I wonder if I can work the Glimmer Mist into the Spring ATC's I should be making right now instead of updating my blog (oops!).
OMG......you HAVE to check out the July kit goodness over at LifePreservers! Delish! I already placed my order ;) Good thing I have a fulltime job and hate shopping for clothes....hahahaha. Von is a miracle worker with putting together awesome kits at amazing prices! Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself...I DARE YOU!!!
Have a great weekend and catch ya on Tuesday

Not a very good Mother's Day weekend
Things started going wrong on Friday and really went downhill from there.
Friday....
I received an email from the owner of SMM and she has decided to close her store so no scrapbook Design Team position for me. Not going to say anything more on that one...it's best for all involved.
Saturday....
Work was insane...enough said.
Sunday....
Work was insane again...not enough staff...not enough advertised items...etc. I was so happy when 4pm came around....oh yeah, 415pm had to work an extra 15 minutes b/c I couldn't get in at 730am...had to wait until 745...long story...suffice it to say that I am a very accomodating employee...they best remember that when I ask for a raise! Get home, relax on couch while hubby is making supper on the BBQ...fall asleep for half an hour. Wake up with the freakin' flu! No, not N1H1...just the good ole' seasonal flu.
Monday....
Day off....still sick.
Tuesday....
Day off....still sick....now Patrick is home from school....Mommy's little caregiver is sick too :(
Wednesday....
Supposed to work but took day off to recouperate from being sick. Almost feeling back to normal...still light-headed from not eating for two days. Patrick is still home sick. Surprisingly, Eric is just fine (crap, knock on wood!...yes, I know, I'm not superstitious but if it keeps him from puking, I'll go with it!)
Anyway, there were a few comedic highlights throughout the sickness and chaos. Courtney was trying to be a loving daughter and although she wouldn't come over and make me jello....she made some at her place and sent it over with her boyfriend...before the jello was set. Can you see where this is going? I did end up with about a quarter of a cup of it...sorry about the mess in your car JB...next time just bring Courtney over...I really did appreciate the gesture :)
And here's a snippet from a convo with Eric and DH from Tuesday night:
Eric: Oh, gross! Patrick just puked!
DH: So don't look at it.
Eric: OMG! That is so gross! You can tell what he ate!
DH: Well, quit looking at it!
Eric: Dude, that is so gross! Look at it! You're gonna make me puke!
DH: QUIT LOOKING AT IT!!! (in his best Hank Hill impersonation: "That boy ain't right")
Yup, that's my Mother's Day weekend in a nutshell...or walnut shell...lol.
Thanks to DH and the boys for the Michael's gift certificate...love you!

Happy NSB Day.....
...for those of you reading this who are non-scrappers....NSB Day is National Scrapbooking Day! It is celebrated on the first Saturday of May. Now I know you are thinking "um...ya....today is Sunday!"...well, I was working on Saturday so I didn't really have much time to play :(
But, on Friday night I made this:

This is my very first attempt at making an acrylic album and I LOVE IT!! You want to know the best part? The clear plastic is recycled from a pre-pack at work! Totally FREE!! I cut two big pieces to make the album pages and they are not quite 5x5. Gotta love that ;)
Oh, and I have some awesome Scrapbooking related news but you will have to wait until Tuesday to find out! Ya, I know....I'm such a tease ;)
Later, Gator!
